Meeting of the Minds 2015

Energyworx participated in Meeting of the Minds (MotM) 2015 and is very thankful for the opportunity to discuss our platform with other sustainable energy leaders. MotM focuses on the innovators and initiatives at the bleeding edge of urban sustainability and connected technology. Energyworx’ BIG data crunching engine was well received as an important tool for cities and utilities to make sense of the vast amount of data being generated from the ever increasing number of smart devices in our urban environments. Through our participation in the MotM hackathon and connections made during the event, Energyworx was able to demonstrate its value proposition. We look forward to following up with all our new smart city allies and continuing to be active in the broader MotM network!

Here’s a quick recap in case you missed us!

Tuesday 20th of October

The Hackathon started and we participated as a team of 4 to present our agile platform to a varied public and attentive jury. We demonstrated how a custom application for Richmond could be built in only 2 days! Our goal was to prove that saving energy does not require complex and expensive hardware. All is needed is an internet connection and access to the Energyworx Open API! The highlight of our presentation came when one of the judges inquired about the cost of our platform. CEO and Founder, Edwin Poot pulled up the Google Cloud Dashboard and showed that the infrastructure costs were only $0.30 for our 2 days of working and data crunching! Unfortunately, we were not selected as the winner but still our input was highly appreciated.

Thursday, 22th of October

Energyworx organized a very intimate dinner at Revival Bar + Kitchen in Berkeley. We invited a great group of smart city leaders who represented both the private and public sector, technology creators, users and implementers. The evening was lively and many great ideas were shared. Thanks to all who joined us!

More about Meeting of the Minds

Since it was founded, MotM has been dedicated to a singular proposition: bring together a carefully chosen set of key urban sustainability and technology stakeholders and gather them around a common platform in ways that help build lasting alliances. They believe that such a platform is a vital ingredient for smart, sustainable and equitable urban (re)development strategies.
